Grizzly Basin Ranch Alpaca Yarn
Grizzly Basin Ranch is located just West of Yahk, B.C. Canada. We have a small herd of about 10 alpaca and harvest a limited amount of fibre from these animals yearly. We usually shear our animals in April and have a variety of colours, but white and brown are the basic palettes.
Alpaca fibre is light in weight. It is soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fibre. While similar to sheep's wool, it is up to 10x warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.
Our Lopi yarn is a 60% Alpaca/40% Merino blend. The skeins average 4.5 oz and approximately 135 yards of chunky softness. The yarn accepts dyes really well!
All natural, no dyes
